ASK ME ABOUT
Week 1 = September 9th, 2022
Dear Fourth Grade Families,
At the end of each week I will be sending out a little note via email and SEESAW (once we get iPads) about what we worked on in each school subject over the past week, along with reminders for the week ahead. It will be called ASK ME ABOUT. I would like you to use this as a way to talk/interact with your student about some of the big ideas/random topics/learning moments from the week. I ask you to also use this as a gauge to see how well your student may (or may not) be paying attention/absorbing what is being taught in class.
REMINDERS for the upcoming week:
--Monday-Thursday night HOMEWORK = Read 20 minutes (minimum) and fill out reading log
--BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT = Monday, 9/19 at 6:30pm
--IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE SO ALREADY, PLEASE COMPLETE AND RETURN THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL PAPERWORK AT YOUR EARLIEST CONVENIENCE.
Reading:
We started our whole-class read aloud: Bunnicula - which is about a misunderstood rabbit that was found at a "Dracula" movie! We will begin more formal instruction with our new Language Arts curriculum on Monday.
Math:
Students received materials and started practicing their basic math facts. We will begin more formal instruction on Monday.
Science:
We started our "Mystery Science" curriculum with a Mystery Doug all about: How Scientists Know So Much. We then practiced being scientists by OBSERVING our hands and ASKING QUESTIONS - lots and lots of questions!
Social Studies:
On Friday we had a brief discussion about the events surrounding September 11th and why that day is so important to so many people. We watched a Brain Pop movie on this topic to help students solidify their understanding on this challenging and sometimes difficult topic.
Writing:
Students have been busy this past week putting together an ALL ABOUT ME poster to help everyone learn a little bit more about each other. Students might be asking for help getting photos from home to help complete the poster by the end of the week.
